Slowly Taking Shape

Yet again, in the past month, a number of important steps have been taken. All in all, we have now managed to establish a degree of certainty regarding work, education, transport and accommodation.

It is encouraging to know that Susanna’s employer has made it possible for her to continue working – from her ‘home office abroad’ – until the summer of 2025. The hours worked on a weekly basis will be fewer. Still, as more pieces of the puzzle fall into place the family gains greater stability and, not least of all, a steady income for the immediate future is guaranteed. Meanwhile, Mathijs’s employer has been informed of the agreements made at Susanna’s workplace so we hope to hear of developments on that front in the not-too-distant future.

The Karlstad municipal authority has helped out, as promised, with the organizing of Rune’s school intake registration and has, indeed, been in direct contact with the school in question. It has been confirmed by the school that both boys are now on the relevant lists for the new school year and that the school will also take care of all the further necessary registration matters with the relevant authority.
After 6 problem-free years we have now part-exchanged our faithful Nissan Leaf car for a Toyota Corolla. In other words, we have gone from being completely electric to reverting to a hybrid vehicle: a somewhat retrogressive step but the leg room and driving radius have increased. It is a comfortable, reliable and economical touring vehicle.

For some time Mathijs had harboured the desire to ride into and through southern Sweden on his motorbike. This wish was fulfilled when, on April 12th, he was able to park his motorbike in front of our temporary future abode in Scandinavia. He was given a warm welcome by the current owners and both parties were pleased to have the chance to get to know each other better. Before leaving he managed to film all the different rooms so that we all now have a good impression of what awaits us. Finally, a series of drone shots of the vicinity, which incidentally the owners were also curious to see, completed the picture. It was brilliant Mathijs was able to spend a couple of nights in the house to get a better impression of the area and to become more acquainted with the future landlord and landlady. In short: everything is slowly taking shape and we notice that already, with less than 3 months to go, time is speeding up…
